Wine culture has played an important role in Greek history since the time of ancient Greece. Archaeological finds throughout Greece prove that wine was cultivated as early as 6500 years ago. Greek wines are among the finest due to the excellent climatic conditions. Local varieties that can only be found in Greece are also grown here. The total area of vineyards is approximately 190,000 hectares and the annual production is around 5 million hectolitres of wine. Greek wines are typical southern wines.<\/p>\n<\/div>
